FEMA is urging anyone who would like to help those victimized by the hurricane, to make cash contributions to organizations, which would issue cash vouchers to victims so they can meet their needs. Below is a list of those organizations:

"Columbus Indiana Philharmonic Holiday Show" 
The Columbus Indiana Philharmonic is having their annual "Holiday Show" on Saturday, Dec. 10 with 2 performances, 3pm & 7pm at Columbus North High School. For ticket information, call 812-376-2638, ext 110.

 

"Pet Adoption Event" 
C.A.R.E. will hold a pet adoption event Saturday, Dec. 10th at Petco on National Road in Columbus from 12-4pm. You can also sign up for the Spay/Neuter clinic at this time. 

On November 7, CARE (Community Animal Rescue Effort) in Columbus joined 2,000 shelters worldwide for Iams Home 4 the Holidays 2005. All pets adopted during Iams Home 4 the Holidays 2005 will go home with their new family and an Adoption Kit from The Iams Company.

Jennings County Christmas Drive 
The Jennings County Coordinating Council
needs good used toys, new toys, food and monetary donations for this year’s Christmas Drive.  

Drop off your donations at the Jennings County Coordinating Council, 201 Hoosier Street in North Vernon . Call 812-346-5183.

 

Heating Bill Assistance 
The FSSA is accepting applications from low-income Hoosiers who need help paying their winter heating bills under Indiana's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. Applications may be submitted at one of the 24 Community Action Agencies across the state. Applications accepted the first two weeks will be from the following:
* Elderly
* Disabled
* Families with children under age 6
* Families at risk of having utilities disconnected
* Families whose bulk fuel tanks are empty

All other households are asked to begin signing up after November 17th.
